The M80 was closed overnight after emergency services responded to an “incident” on the road.
Traffic Scotland confirmed the major road was closed around 2.29am on Tuesday morning at junction 7 near Haggs.
The road remained closed heading south due to a police incident involving concern for a person throughout Tuesday morning.
Heavy congestion was reported in the area on the M80 Southbound from the M9, with delays of around 48 minutes at rush hour.
On the road to the M876, delays of 90 minutes were reported at rush hour.
Police confirmed the road reopened around 11.30am.
Officers thanked road users for their patience.
