A section of the M8 is set to close overnight throughout the whole of next week for essential work.
Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are undertaking the work on the westbound M8 Woodside Viaducts from Junction 16, Craighall to Junction 19, Anderston, from Monday, May 16 to Friday, May 20 between 11pm and 6am, each night.
The M8 westbound will be closed at these locations with a signed diversion route in operation as the closure will allow the movement of heavy plant machinery to assist in repairing the Woodside Viaducts.
As a result of the closure, westbound traffic will exit the M8 at Junction 16 and follow the A804 Dobbies Loan to the northbound A81 Garscube Road.
From here, vehicles will travel to the St George’s Road Junction onto the A804 St George’s Road to Woodlands Road Junction and then to the A804 Newton Street to re-join the westbound M8 at Junction 19.
In addition to the essential works, on Tuesday, May 17 there will also be a full road closure overnight of the M8 westbound carriageway at junction 11.
As part of the Network Management Contract for the South-West Trunk Road Unit, Amey is undertaking essential overnight investigative work of the area and a full road closure of the M8 westbound Junction 11 off-slip road is required between 8pm and 5am.
Traffic will be diverted via the M8 westbound junction 12 off-slip road to join the A80 and onto the B765.
From here, traffic will take the M8 Junction 12 eastbound on-slip road and will continue in an easterly direction until the Junction 11 off-slip road where diversion will end.
