The M8 has reopened following a crash that left two women in hospital.

Emergency services closed the motorway westbound at junction 27 near the White Cart Viaduct in Paisley after a one-car crash around 8.40pm on Thursday.

Two women have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown.

Renfrew Road was also closed between Abbotsinch Retail Park roundabout and Arkleston Road roundabout due to associated damage to the barriers.

A Police statement read: “The M8 westbound at Junction 27, White Cart Viaduct in Paisley, has reopened following a one-car crash reported around 8.40pm on Thursday, 16 July, 2026.

“Renfrew Road between Abbotsinch Retail Park roundabout and Arkleston Road roundabout has also reopened.

“Two females have been taken to hospital for treatment.”
