The M8’s eastbound carriageway has reopened after an overturned lorry was removed from the road.

Emergency services were called to the scene near junction 5 at Shotts and Harthill following reports of a collision involving a heavy goods vehicle at around 6.06pm on Thursday.

Initially one lane was closed off on the carriageway before it was fully closed at 8.58pm.

It was fully reopened to traffic at 5.11am on Friday.

A spokesperson from Traffic Scotland said: “Junction 5 incident now over and the road has reopened.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
