A section of the M8 remains closed five hours after a man was found injured on Thursday.

The eastbound and westbound carriageways were shut east of Glasgow between Shotts Interchange, Junction 5, and Newhouse Junction, Junction 6.

The westbound carriageway has since reopened, however, the eastbound carriageway remains shut to allow for further investigation.

Drivers have been urged to avoid the area. Traffic Scotland has warned that there will be heavy congestion upon approach.
