The M8 carriageway heading westbound has been closed after a lorry struck a bridge on Wednesday
Emergency services were called to the motorway at around 2.50pm following reports of the incident involving a heaving goods vehicle.
Lanes from junction 27 have been closed heading towards Glasgow Airport to allow for complete recovery and an inspection of the bridge.
Road users have been urged to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Arkleston Road in Renfrew is closed at junction 27 for the M8 after a lorry with a heavy load collided with the bridge over the motorway around 2.50pm on Wednesday, June 4.
“Lanes on the motorway towards Glasgow Airport are closed and the westbound carriageway will be closed completely for recovery and for the bridge to be checked.
“Road users are advised to avoid the area.”
