A 100-acre private island in Loch Lomond owned by TV presenter Kirsty Young has gone up for sale for £3m.
The Scots broadcaster purchased Inchconnachan island, set within the heart of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, for £1.6m in 2020.
Real estate agent Sotheby’s has now listed the uninhabited island with two purchase options. Buyers can acquire it with planning permission to build a short-stay holiday rental, as well as a boat house and a jetty for the £3m price tag.
Alternatively, it can be purchased as a turnkey asset, including the construction of a bespoke luxury retreat, for £10m. The proposed additional £7m investment would take around two years to complete.
Sotheby’s focuses on the island’s “offer of uninterrupted views towards Ben Lomond” and its proximity to Glasgow Airport, just 30 minutes away, despite its “extraordinary seclusion”.
The demolition of a 1920s colonial timber bungalow and the creation of a wet woodland are still listed as part of the plans. Paths, drainage, boardwalks and plant facilities are also included.
The main structure would be built on screw-piled foundations to “preserve the island’s precious ecology”.
Inchconnachan is a Special Area of Conservation, with planning permission facing initial opposition from wildlife charities over the impact on wallabies, who have inhabited the island for 80 years.
Argyll and Bute’s planning and access committee approved the plans in January 2025.
