A group of late-night revellers tackled a man with a machete.
Police were alerted to the incident in Glasgow’s Hope Street shortly after 1am on Sunday morning.
By the time officers arrived at the scene – near to Glasgow Central Station – the man had been stripped of the blade by members of the public.
The force confirmed a 51-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
A report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear at court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Officers in Glasgow were made aware of a man in possession of a machete at 1.10am on Hope Street.
“A 51-year-old man was arrested and charged.
“A report has been sent to Procurator Fiscal and the man is expected to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court tomorrow.”
