A kitten with “severe anaemia” was discovered after being abandoned in a bin bag near train tracks in East Ayrshire.

The black, semi long-haired kitten and was found by a member of the public near some disused railway lines in Newmilns on September 16.

The ten-week-old kitten is “very thin and has severe anaemia”, and was covered in maggot eggs and fleas when he was found.

Appealing for information, the Scottish SPCA stated that he was not microchipped or wearing a collar when he was found.

“We understand that vet bills can cause worry, but this is not the way to give up an animal,” said the charity’s inspector McIntyre.

“If anyone recognises this kitten or has any information about this incident, we would ask that they contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
