Kayaker, 69, rescued by coastguard after falling into sea near Oban

The coastguard rescued a 69-year-old man after he fell into the sea while kayaking.

The incident took place in Ardmacknish Bay near Oban in Argyll and Bute on Wednesday.

A rescue team raced to the area after the alarm was raised at around 4.45pm with a helicopter and lifeboat dispatched to the scene.

The kayaker was recovered from the water and brought to land.

The coastguard said the man had been wearing a lifejacket when he entered the water, and that he is now safe and well.
