A Katy Perry fan has described the moment the American pop star took his phone and filmed herself on stage as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.
Ryan Murray, 38, and his friend Heather Watters, 39, were two of thousands who went to Tuesday’s Lifetimes tour show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.
What set them apart from the crowd, however, was when the superstar grabbed their phone from the infinity circle section – and proceeded to film herself dancing on stage.
Ryan, from Maybole, Ayrshire, described it as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”.
“It was an amazing night”, he told STV News.
“We queued for a couple of hours outside, and we were in the infinity circle. We were filming, and she walked out, reached her hand out, grabbed my phone, and took it on stage with her.
“We were so shocked. My friend kept tapping me and saying ‘what’s happening, what’s going on?’
“It was pretty cool. When she finished, she asked whose phone this was. So we walked to the other side of the stage, and then she started asking us questions on the mic.
“She asked where we are from. I told her Ayrshire, but I don’t think she understood me, to be honest.
“It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience; we were really taken aback by the whole thing.”
Despite it being an “amazing moment”, Ryan admitted he was anxious he would never see his phone again.
“I’ve seen videos of her at concerts where she has taken a phone and thrown it back into the crowd, so I did worry about that,” he added.
“But luckily, she handed it straight back to me.”
