A body has been found during the search for a missing mum-of-two in Glasgow.

Karen Stevenson disappeared from Cumbernauld in the early hours of Saturday, February 19.

The 42-year-old was last seen walking on Seafar Road, near to McGregor Road, at around 3.15am.

Extensive searches have been carried out in the weeks following her disappearance however, officers have now confirmed a body has been found in Glasgow on Sunday morning.

Police say formal identification has yet to take place but Ms Stevenson’s family have been made aware.

A police spokesperson said: “On the morning of Sunday, March 13, the body of a woman was found in the Glenboig Road area of Glasgow.

“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Karen Stevenson, who was reported missing from the Cumbernauld area on Saturday, February 19, have been informed.

“Enquiries into the death are at an early stage.

“It is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
