An Iranian man and a Romanian woman charged after allegedly attempting to enter Faslane nuclear base have been released and will not face court proceedings.

Sarsam Abutakir and Alina Valentina were arrested after police were alerted to two individuals attempting to access HM Naval Base Clyde at around 5pm on Thursday.

Both had been due to appear at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday.

However, prosecutors have now confirmed that no action will be taken against Valentina, 31, following a “full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances”.

A Crown Office spokesman said: “The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”

Iranian Sarsam Abutakir, 34, was released from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court.

His case remains under review.

A spokesperson said: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report concerning a 34-year-old man in connection with an alleged incident on March 19, 2026.

“After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, he was liberated from custody pending further inquiries and did not appear in court.

“The case against him remains live and under consideration.”

Officially known as HMNB Clyde, Faslane in Argyll and Bute is home to the Royal Navy’s flotilla of nuclear submarines.

Police investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
