Investigations are ongoing after a crash that killed a dad-of-five in Renfrewshire.
Emergency services were called to Beith Road, in Johnstone, at around 2am on Saturday after a car crashed and subsequently caught fire.
Gary Sim, from the local area, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he later died.
The road was closed while investigations were carried out and re-opened around 7.50am on Sunday, 10 November.
Police confirmed that the investigation into Mr Sim’s death is “ongoing”.
Following his death, tributes were shared online to the 53-year-old, including from his children.
His son Gary said, “I love you dad, you were my best friend. I need you back”, while his daughter, Chandler, said, “I love you dad, I can’t believe this”.
Road Policing constable Stewart Brown said: “Our thoughts are with Gary’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time and we continue to offer them support as our enquires progress.
“I’d like to thank the local community for their patience while the road was closed and also to members of the public who provided information.”
