An investigation has been launched almost three weeks after a car was deliberately set on fire in South Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to reports of the blaze on Rosslyn Road in Ashgill near Larkhall at around 3.20am on Saturday, May 10.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire.

Officers said there were no injuries and are treating the incident as “wilful”.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the blaze to come forward.

Detective constable Ross Meldrum from Lanarkshire CID said: “We are appealing to anyone that may have saw anything suspicious that night to get in touch.

“Anyone with doorbell or dash-cam footage should check to see if they have captured anything.

“If you have information, contact 101 quoting reference 0502 of May 10 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
