Police say the death of the 58-year-old man is being treated as 'unexplained' however an investigation as at an early stage.

An investigation has been launched into the death of a man in the car park of a leisure centre in East Kilbride.

Forensic teams and officers locked down the area outside East Kilbride Sports Club shortly after 10pm on Saturday evening following reports a man had collapsed nearby.

Paramedics also attended the incident, however a 58-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the death is currently being treated as unexplained, but stressed that any probe remained at an early stage.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were made aware of a 58-year-old man who had collapsed in a car park in Strathaven Road, East Kilbride, around 10.10pm on Saturday, July 30.

“Emergency services attended and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are at an early stage.”
