An investigation has been launched after a human skull was found on a North Lanarkshire street.
The discovery was made by a member of the public on Bellshill Road, Motherwell, at around 5.30am on Friday.
Officers from Police Scotland are now trying to establish where the skull came from and whether it is fake or a piece of missing memorabilia.
A spokesman for the force confirmed the incident.
He said: “At around 5.30am on Friday police were called to Bellshill Road in Motherwell, after a member of the public discovered what appeared to be a skull.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish whether the skull is fake or is a piece of missing memorabilia.
“There is not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
