An investigation has been launched after a firework was put through the window of a property in Airdrie on Bonfire Night.

Emergency services were called to Mill Road at around 9pm on Wednesday.

There were no injuries, but the firework caused “extensive damage” to the property.

Detective constable Martin Daly said: “Thankfully, no one was in the room at the time, but this reckless act had the potential to cause serious injury.

“We are carrying out extensive enquiries to trace whoever is responsible and I would ask anyone in the area at the time who saw anyone suspicious to get in touch.

“Similarly, anyone in the area with private CCTV, doorbell or dash-cam footage which may have captured the incident is urged to contact us.”
