An investigation has been launched after a car was deliberately torched during the early hours.

Emergency services were called to Glencairn Road in Dumbarton after reports of a Mazda CX-30 on fire at around 1.25am on Tuesday.

The flames were extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and there were no reports of any injuries.

Detectives are treating the blaze as wilful.

Constable Emma Gibb said: “Thankfully no-one was injured as a result of this reckless act.

“Our enquires are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t already spoken to police to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV footage which could assist to contact us.”
