An Inverclyde children and young people’s worker has been struck off after buying and using cocaine with a young person at her home.

Whilst employed by the local authority, Ami Boyland was found to have sent a sexually suggestive text to a young girl on July 30, 2023.

In September of the same year, Boyland invited the same girl to her home before buying and using cocaine with her.

The pair drank alcohol, and the worker asked the girl to come live with her. She then urged her to keep meeting at the property on the “downlow”.

The Scottish Social Services Council described the behaviour as “a pattern of unacceptable conduct”.

The report read: “You formed an inappropriate relationship with supported person AA.

“Befriending a supported person and sending them text messages late at night is conduct which breaches
professional boundaries.

“You then escalated your behaviour by inviting AA into your home, purchasing cocaine for her and then consuming both cocaine and alcohol with her within your home.

“In doing so, you placed AA at significant risk of physical and emotional harm.

“Cocaine is an illegal substance therefore your actions represent a significant disregard for the law as well as a complete lack of regard for the physical welfare and safety of AA.”

Boyland was removed from the register and banned from working in the profession.
