A man broke into a house in Glasgow before threatening to stab the occupants with a screwdriver.

The intruder entered the property on Sandwood Road, Penilee just before 8pm on Friday night.

He was caught by the house owner’s son who raised the alarm.

The man then produced the weapon from his pocket and told the son that if anyone came near him he would stab them.

He then made off and left the house empty handed before fleeing the scene in a white Transit van.

Police are now investigating the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of an intruder causing a disturbance at a property on Sandwood Road in Glasgow shortly after 7.45pm on Friday, 3 December.

“Nobody was injured during the incident and enquiries are ongoing.”
