Hunt for vehicle in connection with Audi A4 'deliberately' set on fire

Police want to speak to anyone who saw a dark-coloured saloon leave Merksworth Way in Paisley on Saturday night.

A white Audi A4 has been deliberately set on fire in Renfrewshire.

Police are appealing for information after the vehicle was set ablaze on Merksworth Way in the Shortroods area of Paisley at around 9.45pm on Saturday night.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

Detective Constable Barry Gourley said: “Fortunately no one was injured but the vehicle was extensively damaged.

“A dark-coloured saloon car was seen at the time of the incident which left in the direction of Inchinnan Road and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen it or its occupants.

“In addition, anyone with dash-cam or private CCTV footage that could assist with our investigation is asked to get in touch.”
