A hunt has been launched for two men after jewellery and cash were stolen from a house in Bathgate.
Police received reports that a property in the Sylvan Way area was broken into around 4.30pm on Saturday.
The family were at home when the incident happened and a number of items were stolen including jewellery and money.
Officers confirmed their enquiries have established that two men were responsible for the incident.
The men are described as both white with Scottish accents, and around 6ft tall.
Police said the men were seen wearing dark clothing with their faces covered.
Detective constable Emma Thacker of West Lothian CID said: “This break-in occurred while the family were at home and it caused them considerable alarm and upset.
“It’s vital we trace the men responsible, and I am appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious or may have information that could assist with our enquiries to please get in touch.
“In addition, anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation is also asked to contact us.
“Officers can be contacted via 101, quoting reference 2443 of Saturday, December 30, 2023. Alternatively, a call can be made anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
