A hunt for a suspect has been launched after the victim of a serious assault was rushed to hospital in Gourock.
Detectives are appealing for information after the incident in which a 34-year-old man was attacked on Royal Street in the town.
The incident understood to have occurred on Thursday between 3.30pm and 4.30pm.
The victim was rushed to the Royal Alexandria Hospital for treatment.
The suspect is described as being a man, aged in his late 50s or early 60s, around 5ft 9, with an average build, light brown / grey hair and a moustache.
Detective constable Stephen Jordan, from Greenock CID, said: “We are asking anyone with information on this incident to call police on 101, quoting incident 3777 of June 22, 2023.
“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
