A hunt has been launched for a robber who stole a woman’s handbag in broad daylight in Glasgow.

The incident took place around 2.55pm on Friday, near Glasgow Club Gym on Gairbraid Avenue.

A 59-year-old woman was approached by a man who demanded her handbag and forcefully removed it before heading on foot along Gairbraid Avenue, and right on the Maryhill Road.

He has been described as white, around 20 to 30 years old, with an English accent and a medium build, around 5ft 7in or 8in tall and clean shaven.

He was wearing dark trousers and other dark clothing underneath a hi-vis vest.

Constable Natalie Davner from Govan Police Station said: “This has been a terrifying experience for the victim and thankfully no one was seriously hurt in the incident.

“I’m appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information relating to this incident to make contact with the police.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, or have potential CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, please call police on 101, quoting incident 2515 of November 25.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
