An appeal has been launched after a Range Rover was deliberately set alight in the early hours of Friday morning in East Ayrshire.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at Edradour Place in Kilmarnock at around 1.40am on May 24.

The vehicle was parked within the driveway of a house and police said the incident caused “considerable alarm” to the householder.

The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries as a result.

Police are keen to trace a male who was seen acting suspiciously at the time. He is described as wearing dark clothing and reflective trainers.

Detective constable John Cuthbert said: “The fire was set alight while the vehicle was parked within the driveway of a house and caused considerable alarm to the householder. I would urge anyone with information about what happened to speak to officers.

“If you were in the Eradour Place area at the time and saw anything suspicious or have CCTV or dashcam footage which may have captured something of significance then please contact us.”
