A hunt has been launched to trace a man in dark clothing following an attack in Greenock.
The incident happened on Captain Street at around 1.35pm on Monday.
A 26-year-old was attacked and attended hospital for treatment.
Police are looking to trace a suspect who is described as a white man and in his 20s.
The suspect was last seen wearing dark clothing.
Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
Detective sergeant Stewart Morrison said: “Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.
“We also ask anyone with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 2435 of May 12, 2025.
“Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
