Hunt for gang as man fights for life after city centre attack

Detectives are on the hunt for two men and two women as a man fights for his life following an attempted murder attack.

Police were called to Glasgow’s Bridge Street at around 7.15pm on Sunday following reports of a disturbance involving up to six people near the Sou’wester Tavern.

A 46-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

Police are treating the incident as attempted murder.

Investigating officers believe another man may have been injured in the disturbance, but he was later captured on city centre CCTV entering bars and clubs after the incident occurred.

Police are looking for four suspects.

  • Suspect one: A man in his 20-30s with short dark hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved green jumper, black jogging bottoms with red and white stripes down the side, and red and white trainers.
  • Suspect two: An Asian man in his 20-30s. He was wearing a black jacket with a black hooded top underneath, black shorts on top of black leggings, black trainers and a black baseball cap.
  • Suspect three: A woman in her 20-30s with long dark hair. She was wearing a grey coat, a light coloured top, blue jeans and grey trainers.
  • Suspect four: A woman in her 20-30s with long dark hair. She was wearing a white hooded top with a red love heart motif, blue jeans and white trainers.

Detective sergeant Steven Slater said: “At this stage, we do not know what has provoked this attack.

“I would also like to appeal to members of the public who were in the area last night, particularly any motorists or taxi drivers with dashcams, to contact us.

“Potentially, your camera could have captured images with could assist with our enquiries.”
