Police are hunting for a driver after a dog was thrown from a van onto a road in Dumfries and Galloway.
Members of the public witnessed the animal being flung out of the vehicle onto the A77 near Innermessan shortly before 4pm on Thursday afternoon.
The dog was left at the side of the road as the White Coloured Ford Transit van made off from the scene.
Police were contacted before officers came and uplifted the dog and attended a local vet to ensure it was safe and well.
The animal is currently residing within Stranraer Police Station for the time being.
Officers are urging anyone who seen the described vehicle within the area at the time and date and any person with any dash-cam footage or information to get in touch.
