Police are searching for a cyclist after a car was deliberately set alight in Paisley.

Officers were made aware of a silver Vauxhall Corsa ablaze in Ferguslie Park Avenue around 6.55pm on Monday.

The fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and there were no reports of any injuries.

The incident is being treated as wilful, and enquiries are ongoing.

Police are looking for a suspect who is described as being a white male wearing a black gilet, a grey T-shirt and shorts. He was riding a bicycle.

Detective constable Colin Leggat said: “Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area or who may have dash cam or private CCTV to get in touch.”
