Police want anyone who saw a silver Ford Focus near the shooting scene in Cumbernauld to contact them.

Police investigating a shooting which killed a dog have launched a fresh appeal to find the gunman and his accomplices.

Henry the white Maltichon died while being walked by his owner, who suffered a hand injury, in Cumbernauld on Thursday.

A gun was fired after three armed men got out of a silver Ford Focus and started chasing another man.

The car was later found burnt out and police want to hear from anyone who may have seen it before the shooting.

Detectives have also set up an online portal for anyone to submit information.

Senior investigating officer DCI Gillian Grant said: “I would appeal to the public who remember seeing the car or a car matching that description being driven erratically after the incident to contact us.

Police want anyone who saw a car like this to contact them.

“If anyone has dash-cam footage, please check it and send any relevant footage to us via the online portal.”

The gun was fired in Brunswick Gardens at around 6.55pm on Thursday after the three masked men armed with knives got out the car and chased another man.

The silver Ford Focus they were driving was found burnt out at Fannyside Mill, near to Blackthorn roundabout, around an hour later.

DCI Grant said: “It is rare for a member of the public to be caught up in this and I would reiterate how important it is for people to come forward and help us trace the people responsible.
