STV NewsHundreds of workers at energy regulator Ofgem have voted for strike action in a dispute over pay, jobs and conditions.
The Public and Commercial Services union said more than 700 of its members based in Glasgow, London and Cardiff overwhelmingly backed industrial action.
PCS general secretary Fran Heathcote said: “Our members in Ofgem have made their feelings very clear. It’s now up to Ofgem to respond positively.
“We want to resolve this dispute without industrial action. If they do need to take action, however, our members in Ofgem will have the full support of the national union to do whatever is necessary.”
An Ofgem spokesperson said: “We are disappointed that PCS, which represents around a third of Ofgem’s workforce, has voted to strike.
“We believe many of the key issues raised by the union have already been or are in the process of being resolved through constructive dialogue.
“We will continue to work with PCS to address any ongoing disputes.
“We have robust plans in place to ensure the services we provide to consumers are not disrupted.”
