A woman is in hospital after falling from a bridge onto the M8 motorway in Glasgow.
All westbound lanes of the road were closed in the city’s Townhead following the incident on Friday morning.
A 25-year-old woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary, police said, after she had fallen onto the motorway.
Traffic Scotland said police were en route to the road at 6.45am with queues stretching back almost two miles.
Lanes two and three were closed at Junction 15 Townhead Interchange with the road westbound shut completely shortly after.
Drivers were asked to use an alternative route if possible.
Queues tailed back to Junction 12 Cumbernauld Road Interchange on the M8 and past Junction 1 on the M80.
At 7.34am, Traffic Scotland announced all lanes had reopened with the area cleared.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 6.40am on Friday, July 16, officers were called to J15 of the westbound M8, where a woman had fallen from a bridge onto the motorway.
“The 25-year-old woman has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary. The road has been re-opened.”
