A horse was killed and its rider taken to hospital with back injuries after they were struck by a car in North Lanarkshire.
The female rider was taken to Wishaw General Hospital following the incident on Brackenhirst Road, near the village of Glenmavis, at around 9.24am on Sunday morning.
The driver of the car has been arrested.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the report of a road traffic crash on Brackenhirst Road, Glenmavis, Airdrie, at around 9.24am on Sunday, April 25.
“A car and a horse were in collision. As a result, the horse was killed.
“The female rider on the horse at the time was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with back injuries. The driver of the car was arrested and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.”
