UPDATE: Man charged after ‘suspicious items’ found during police raid
Police have locked down a street in Glasgow and evacuated homes after “suspicious items” were found.
Broomhill Drive between Dumbarton Road and Broomhill Avenue near Thornwood in the West End is closed after a “pre-planned search” of a property.
The force said several homes have been evacuated and a cordon has been put in place. The Royal Navy bomb squad is also at the scene with personnel in hazmat suits seen entering a property.

Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area while police are on the scene.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “As a precaution, Broomhill Drive between Dumbarton Road and Broomhill Avenue in Glasgow is closed after suspicious items were found within a property following a pre-planned search.
“Several homes have been evacuated and a cordon put in place.
“We would ask members of the public to avoid the area at this time.”
A Royal Navy spokesperson said: “We can confirm that a Royal Navy ordnance disposal team from Diving Threat and Exploitation Group, Charlie Squadron, were at Broomhill Drive in Glasgow today at the request of Police Scotland.”
