35-year-old man taken to hospital with hand injuries following disturbance outside block of flats in Motherwell.

Police dogs, a firearms unit and a helicopter were deployed to a serious assault in Motherwell on Friday.

Officers were alerted to an assault with a bladed weapon at 6.10pm in McClurg Court, where a disturbance had taken place outside a block of flats.

A 35-year-old man was taken to Wishaw General Hospital with injuries to his hand, while a 30-year-old man was traced by officers in Airbles Farm Road, before being taken to Monklands Hospital for treatment and subsequently arrested.

Officers have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Jacqui McCann said: “We’re appealing to anyone who witnessed this or has any information relating to this incident to contact us.”
