A Hamilton children’s worker has received a warning after she drove drunk on the wrong side of the road and injured two kids.

Claire Grierson was employed as a practitioner by South Lanarkshire Council when she got behind the wheel after consuming alcohol on May 29, 2024.

Grierson drove the car on the opposing carriageway, left the road and struck a stationary car, causing injury to two children.

The practitioner was convicted of dangerous driving and driving over the limit at Hamilton Sheriff Court on July 29 last year.

Grierson failed to inform the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) of the criminal charges between May 29, 2024, and November 11, 2025.

A report by the SSSC found that her actions have shown “a disregard for the safety of members of the public”.

Their report read: “Service users place their trust in social service workers and would expect them not to behave outside of their place of work in a way that would result in a criminal conviction.

“Your behaviour has breached the trust and confidence placed in you as a social service worker.”

A warning was placed on Grierson’s registration for three years, which came into effect on Friday.
