A new grassroots art exhibition has been opened at a car park in Glasgow.
Graduate Drive Thru was developed by students at the Glasgow School of Art in response to their degree shows being cancelled by the pandemic.
The project, on the rooftop of an NCP car park on Glassford Street in the city centre, features art from students who were on courses in 2020.
It includes a range of art, including paintings, sculptures, film, performance and print.
The exhibit has been co-ordinated by graduates Chao-Ying ‘Betty’ Rao and Robert McCormack.
It is being supported by the Hope Scott Trust, the Glasgow School of Art and the William Syson Foundation.
Speaking to STV News, Robert hailed the uniqueness of the project.
“The degree show is sort of the kind of pinnacle of your art education,” he explained.
“So, it’s where you get your grade from, it’s kind of what you work towards for the four years.
“And it’s something that I definitely thought about as soon as I got into art school. So it was just a huge shame not to have it.
“But in many ways, this show is better I think. It’s really unique and there’s really nothing like it.
“So, I’m super happy that in a way, we’ve made something out of the pandemic.”
Betty said that it is “amazing” to be able to show their work.
“So, this is an exhibition, it’s a grassroots exhibition of 24 Glasgow School of Art graduates,” she said.
“We all graduated in 2020, right slap bang in the middle of the pandemic.
“So, it’s really amazing to be able to show our work in a space like this.”
