A busy street outside Glasgow Central Station has been cordoned off due to falling debris.

During rush hour on Tuesday, September 26, a police cordon was erected after debris fell from a building on Gordon Street.

Hope Street to Renfield Street is closed off.

Police Scotland confirmed that the incident relates to a building being potentially unsafe.

Officers are in the area assisting with the road closure.

It is not known when the road will reopen.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 6.20am on Tuesday, September 26 to reports of a falling material from a building on Gordon Street, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised one fire appliance and one aerial appliance to the scene where the crews assessed the building and ensured the safety of the public.

“Firefighters thereafter left the scene.”
