Fire at derelict nightclub being treated as deliberate

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at the derelict building on Sauchiehall Street on Tuesday

A fire at a derelict nightclub in Glasgow is being treated as wilful, police confirm.

Emergency crews were alerted to a blaze in the former Jumpin Jaks on Sauchiehall Street at around 2am on September 1.

Parts of Sauchiehall Street and Dalhousie Street were closed for several hours before reopening at about 6pm.

There are no reported injuries and enquiries are ongoing.

A statement from Police Scotland read: “Roads closed due to a fire at a derelict building on Sauchiehall Street in Glasgow have been reopened.

“The fire was reported around 2am on Tuesday, 1 September, 2026 and is being treated as wilful.

“There are no reported injuries and enquiries are ongoing.”
