An arts centre in Glasgow has announced it will temporarily close amid “significant financial uncertainty”.

Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts confirmed it would close from December this year until March 2025 to focus on “restructuring and ensuring financial recovery”.

The arts centre previously said it was experiencing challenges caused by the pandemic and fires at the Glasgow School of Art had taken a toll on the business.

In a statement, its management team said they were “reimagining” how the centre can continue its community initiatives during the closure.

“Our efforts are aimed at reopening in the spring with plans in place that will carry us into the years to come,” the statement read.

The centre will continue to operate as normal until the temporary closure takes place.

The statement continued: “If you’re wondering how you can help us during this time, there are several ways: consider donating, extending your patience and encouragement, or simply stopping by Third Eye Bar for a drink – every visit directly contributes to our creative programme and the upkeep of our building.”
