Glasgow’s subway has been suspended in both directions due to power failure.

Passengers have been evacuated from the service and urged to find other means of travel.

A shuttle bus service has been put in place between Partick and both Govan and Ibrox.

SPT say teams are currently working to repair the issues.

It follows problems earlier on Tuesday morning with escalators at both Kelvinbridge and St Enoch’s Centre.

Those wishing to travel have been urged to follow @GLASubwayTravel on Twitter for updates.

In a tweet the Glasgow Subway confirmed: “Apologies all, both circles currently suspended due to a power failure in the system. We are working to fix and will update as soon as possible when sorted. Shuttle services are running between Partick and Govan/Ibrox.”

An SPT spokesperson told STV News: “Both inner and outer Subway circles are currently suspended due to a power failure in the system. We are working to fix and will update as soon as possible when sorted. Please follow @GLASubwayTravel for most up to date information.”
