Travel on Glasgow’s subway system was suspended on Monday due to issues with signalling.

Passengers were warned shortly before 3pm on January 9 that services had been suspended on both the inner and outer lines of the subway circles.

It was the second time of the day that the issue had occurred after signalling experienced issues just before 12pm.

Rush hour travellers planning to use the subway have been advised that tickets and Smartcards will be accepted by ScotRail for travel between Partick and the city centre, and on First Bus during the suspension.

In an update to customers, subway operators SPT said: “Valid Subway tickets and Smartcards are being accepted by ScotRail for travel between Partick and City Centre and on First Bus while both Subway circles are currently suspended.

“We are working to fix the current issues as quickly as we can & will update you when services resume.”
