A former Glasgow student has entered the Guinness World Records for creating a giant sock monkey outside the School of Art.
Emilia Evans-Munton, who graduated last year with a degree in Sculpture and Environmental Art, has entered the 2026 world record books.
She created the huge monkey sculpture, which measures more than 15 metres (49 ft 6 in) long and was made using 60 metres of corduroy fabric to cover its surface.
40 straw bales were also used to give the puppet its structure.
SuppliedThe monkey’s eyes were created by repurposing recycled scaffolding boards and wood, each measuring 1.5 metres wide.
The work, titled Remember I’m Still Here, was displayed outdoors in the Stow building’s car park during The Glasgow School of Art’s 2025 degree show.
Emilia, upon being certified by the Guinness World Records, said: “The piece is an ode to the toys that are left behind, and the painful pang of losing one’s favourite toy as a child.
“It lies there in sun, wind, rain and storm; initially pristine, gradually becoming more battered and bruised by the weather, literally having been left behind by the artist, yet discovered by the audience during the duration of its presence at the art school.”
