A number of homes have been evacuated after a car left the road and crashed into a shop in Glasgow.

Police confirmed Victoria Road in the city’s Southside was closed after a car struck a premises after 5.50pm on Thursday.

Residents living nearby have been evacuated from their homes as a precaution while emergency services are in attendance.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Victoria Road in Glasgow has been closed after a car struck a premises around 5.50pm on Thursday, September 12, 2024.

“Residents have been evacuated from a number of properties as a precaution.

“There are no reports of any injuries. Emergency services are in attendance.”
