Services in Glasgow faced disruption on Thursday after a person was struck by a train at Bishopbriggs station.

A person has died after being hit by a train in East Dunbartonshire.

Emergency services were called to Bishopbriggs railway station at around 1.18pm on Thursday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

A person, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the incident, services leaving from Queen Street station will be subject to delays.

ScotRail said: “Unfortunately we have received reports of a person being struck by a train between Glasgow Queen Street and Croy.

“We are working closely with emergency services during this time and will keep you updated. All services via the upper level of Queen Street are subject to delay.”

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Bishopbriggs station at 1.18pm on May 25 following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
