A private hire car driver in Glasgow has been suspended after being charged with sexual offences.

Police Scotland told the city’s licensing committee that Abdullah Yasin is facing two charges following an alleged incident in March.

It is alleged Mr Yasin, while working as a private hire driver, sexually assaulted a female by kissing her without consent and “making her hand touch his penis”.

A police officer told councillors that it is also alleged that Mr Yasin did “intentionally expose his genitals in a sexual manner” to a female.

The committee heard the driver has been charged and reported to the Procurator Fiscal and is due to appear in court in June.

Police Scotland called for the suspension on the “grounds that carrying on of the activity to which the licence relates causes a serious threat to public order or public safety”.

Mr Yasin, who did not attend his licence hearing, had already been suspended for six weeks following the police complaint.

Councillors decided on Wednesday to suspend his licence – which runs until June 2028 – for the unexpired portion of its duration.
