A man was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries following an attempted murder bid in Glasgow.

The 40-year-old was discovered on Guthrie Street in the city’s Maryhill area at around 5.45am on Saturday morning following a suspected attack by two men.

Officers believe one of the assailants may have been wearing a jacket bearing the logo of food delivery firm Just Eat.

An investigation has since been launched to trace the men responsible while the victim remains in a stable condition at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Both suspects are thought to be white, one of a stocky build and wearing all black and the other, who may have been wearing the jacket, is said to be slim and also wearing a yellow or mustard skip cap.

Detective sergeant Stephen Palmer of Maryhill CID encouraged anyone with information to come forward and share it with investigators as soon as possible.

He added: “A man has sustained serious injuries as a result of this attack and we are appealing for information to help trace those responsible.

“I would ask if you recognise these men from the descriptions or were in the Maryhill area around the time of the incident and saw anyone acting suspicious, that you come forward and speak to police.”

DS Palmer added: “Any motorists who have dash-cam footage that could assist with our enquiries, please get in touch.”

Anyone with an information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0725 of Saturday, November 19. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
