A missing man from Scotland has been found dead in a field near Surrey after boarding a bus to London.
John McGhee boarded a bus in Glasgow bound for London on Wednesday, January 7.
A search was soon launched afterwards to locate his whereabouts.
On Wednesday, January 14, the body of a 63-year-old man was found in a field in Tatsfield, Surrey.
Mr McGhee’s family has been informed.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “On Wednesday, January 14, police attended a field in Tatsfield, Surrey following a member of the public reporting a sighting of a body.
“Sadly, a man in his 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The man’s next-of kin have been informed. His death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious.”
His daughter, Paige Massey, paid tribute online, saying the family’s hearts have been “shattered into a million pieces”.
The post read: “I can’t put into words how devastated we all are.
“While nothing makes this easier, I take a small amount of comfort in knowing he passed away peacefully, in a beautiful little place.
“I love you so much Dad and I will never stop fighting for you.”
