A power cut affecting multiple areas in Glasgow has left homes without electricity and traffic lights on a busy road in “darkness”.

SP Energy Network confirmed the outage at around 9.46am on Wednesday with some homes in the West End of the city left without power.

Properties in the G11, G12, G13 and G41 postcode areas were affected while several sets of traffic lights on Byres Road in “darkness”.

Drivers were urged to exercise caution when approaching the affected lights.

SP Energy Network said it expected supply to be restored at around midday.

A spokesperson said: “There is a power cut affecting the G11, G12, G13 and G41 postcode areas of Glasgow.

“We had no advance warning of this and first became aware of it at 9.46am.

“Our control centre will attempt to restore your electricity supply remotely, and we will also send our next available engineers to the area to find and fix the fault as quickly and as safely as possible.

“We expect the power to be restored by 12pm.”
